Play music with paper

Powered by the Touch Board

Straight out of the box, the Touch Board is pre-programmed to turn any conductive object into a sensor or switch to play sounds stored on the included microSD card.
It can be re-programmed via the Arduino IDE so you can customize the function of the 12 capacitive touch and proximity sensors.


The Interactive Workshop Pack includes all the tools you need to run three different workshop activities introducing everything from painting sensors with Electric Paint, to programming the Touch Board using the Arduino programming language. Each project comes with complete instructions, and one workshop pack can be run with up to 25 participants. Once you’ve mastered these three projects, you can go on to modify the activities to increase complexity by designing custom instruments and game controllers, or interactive surfaces. The kit does not require any soldering and is recommended both for beginners and advanced users looking for a creative workshop activity. With extensive libraries already available, you can select from existing code examples or modify and program your own interactions.

With Touch Boards, Electric Paint, Printed Sensors, mini speakers, and many more components, you’ll have all the tools required for the three projects provided and much more. The full-color, Guidebook (included) contains step-by-step instructions for completing each activity and is supported with online tutorials, full code examples and troubleshooting in case something goes wrong. These fun 30 to 60 minute activities require no previous programming or electronics experience and will appeal to equally to participants from engineering and design backgrounds.



The Touch Board is a microcontroller board with dedicated capacitive touch and MP3 decoder ICs. It has a headphone socket and micro SD card holder (for file storage), as well as having 12 capacitive touch electrodes. It is based around the ATmega32U4 and runs at 16MHz from 5V. It has a micro USB connector, a JST connector for an external lithium polymer (LiPo) cell, a power switch and a reset button. It is similar to the Arduino Leonardo board and can be programmed using the Arduino IDE. The ATmega32U4 can appear to a connected computer as a mouse or a keyboard, (HID) serial port (CDC) or USB MIDI device.
